IVF Success Stories

We would like to share some inspirational true stories of just some of our IVF patients that struggled to reach success and with whom we have had the advantage to be both of service and encourage right from the beginning to the very end of their journey. Our patients are regular people, no different from you and us, who decided to opt for a different kind of IVF experience by combining travel and medical assistance in order to realize their dream: to start a family.

Not allowed Donor IVF? See how you can get pregnant!

At 49, my fertility options in Nairobi were zero

When I was tested at an IVF clinic in Nairobi, after my blood test and scan, I was told that my eggs were like gone, finished, and I could not produce some for a new baby. I already have a child.

So they told me I’ve got 3 options:

  • 1. Egg donor
  • 2. Adopt
  • 3. Or forget about having a child!

So that day I was distressed and I went through the internet and I found Embio.

Then I wrote my request, if Embio clinic would be able to consider my case. I gave them all the test results from the clinic in Nairobi.

Immediately, they responded that my query had been forwarded to the doctor and that they would get back to me.

After 2 days, I received an email from Dr Paraschos himself.

An IVF Protocol for older women

He told me, ‘Because of your age (49), the chances are low, but yes, we can help you.  We’ve got a protocol for older women and so you can start your medication in Kenya, and you can come to Greece for the embryo transfer. Then you can go back with your baby.”

At Embio I was given an option with my own eggs!

So they started supporting me for 2 months before going there, without any payment! They were giving me prescriptions, analyzing the scans I was sending them, telling me what to do, until I was ready for the egg transfer.

Imagine all that support without any payment?! I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. You see, all that was done so efficiently and professionally, that I would expect just an automated procedure. And yet, what I felt was a professional and, at the same time, personal touch. I couldn’t express it in any other way.

First the Doctor prescribed dhea, which would improve my eggs.

“We can do it with your own eggs, if you insist,” the Doctor told me, taking into consideration that I’m a Muslim, and egg donation is not allowed.

I started taking dhea, and started sending them the blood tests for E2 (estrogen).

On the first month I had a problem with a functional cyst. So I started taking family planning (contraceptive pills) for 2 months. Those helped to clear the system. But that was an indication that I could still reproduce! A functional cyst can appear only in women who are in their reproductional age!

So I started the oral contraceptive, the cyst was reduced, and then I was told to keep taking it for another month. I took it for 2 months and then I went for a blood test and a scan and it was cleared off!

Then, on the 2nd day after my period, I was prescribed the ivf medicine.

I was receiving emails, was told what to do, I did the scan and blood test, and I sent the results to them.

On day 5 of my cycle, when I was still in Nairobi, I did a scan and I had 5 follicles, 2 in the left and 3 in the right ovary. So when I came to Embio they were able to retrieve 3 – 2 good ones and one not so good.

On the 8th day of my cycle, I went to Embio Medical Center, continued with my IVF medicine, and then I went for my egg retrieval.

Then my husband came on Saturday and had sperm collection, and today, Wednesday, one 3-day embryo was transferred and inshallah (God willing) on Friday another one (a 5-day-old embryo).

Professional IVF with a personal touch

I am very impressed by the ivf program, the clinic, the doctor, the nurses, the support you get before coming, after coming. The rest is in the hands of God. But you feel that everything is done at the highest level of professionalism.

In Nairobi I was told that I had no eggs of my own. Only here at Embio I could come and get my own eggs. The fsh levels were low, but this one doctor I told my story to immediately started me with dhea. And that started everything. It started maturing some of those eggs that were already there.

I’m thankful to God for showing me the ivf-embryo.gr website.

There are so many ivf websites. I feel so lucky I have found the right one.

I’ll be here in Athens for 15 days in all.

On day 11, the nurse came at 12 midnight (12 o’clock sharp!) to my hotel to give me the injection 2 days before the egg retrieval. That must be done at midnight exactly.

I’m optimistic. I know the whole process until I got here at Embio and throughout the ivf treatment has been at the highest level of professionalism. The rest is in the hands of God.

Two years ago I was again here in Athens and then I had visited the Acropolis. Now I want to relax a bit. Next week I’ll go to the museums, cultural places, meet people, enjoy the Greek food.

Infertile couples from Kenya and Tanzania would like to know about Dr Paraschos at Embio

In Nairobi there are three good fertility clinics. But there are not enough facilities yet. It’s still a new thing. You have to do tests in different places, not all in once place.

People would like to know about Embio and Dr. Paraschos.

In Tanzania where I come from (now I’m working in Nairobi, Kenya), there are big hospitals. But still, I was miscarrying for 4 times and I had my baby in 2005. It took me 10 years struggling.

So everyone would like to know how I came to succeed at Embio in Athens.

I have people who are trying to come to Nairobi. I told them to wait and I would tell them.

I’m a Muslim, and we are allowed IVF but no surrogate mothers, nor donor egg IVF.

So many people would have lost that chance if it weren’t for Dr Paraschos and the fertility treatment he gave me. Because some decide they give up while they could have been given a chance at Embio in Athens.

I’m more than happy to share my experience with women from Kenya and Tanzania.

Just ask IVF Coordinator, and I’ll tell you all about my experience and my IVF treatment at Embio.

From South Africa to Athens for PGD

I spoke to my doctor, and he recommenced Greece for our PGD. He said some Greek fertility doctors are very famous, and they update their knowledge in the latest ivf techniques and fertility treatments. We are trying with my own eggs, so we planned for 12 days, as we didn’t want to risk coming too late. After the egg retrieval we went to the islands. We just had a chance to have a wonderful holiday in between. We didn’t expect that, but it was wonderful!

People are extremely friendly and very helpful. Not only Dr Paraschos and all EMBIO staff (my IVF Coordinator was Maria Rapti), but anywhere we went, we didn’t meet anyone who didn’t go out of their way to help. People in Greece have a wonderful outlook on life, as do people in South Africa. So it was nice to find a place where you find the same, if not better treatment. We wished we could stay longer, but our little ones waited at home.

I feel elated because we got what we came for.
