Embio is proud to have some of Europe's best embryologists as part of our fertility team. They have an international reputation for their work, as evidenced by their attendance at major international conferences and inclusion in hundreds of medical journal publications.

She is a graduate of the Department of Chemistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Biochemistry from the University of Norwich, University of East Anglia, England.

She trained in Embryology under the supervision of the great Professor Ian Craft, one of the pioneers in IVF at the Gynecology and Fertility Centre in London which is one of the largest in England, performing about 2000 IVF cycles per year.

She went on to work in the IVF unit at Hammersmith Hospital in London for 3 years under the supervision of leading scientists such as Professor Robert Winston and Professor Karin Dawson. In fact, she held a special position at this hospital, as she was responsible for the day-to-day running of the unit, carrying out on-call shifts, and the training of new embryologists.

She has also trained in the new method of in-vitro egg maturation (IVM) at McGill University in Canada, under the supervision of renowned professors Dr. Jin Tae Chung and Dr. S. L. Tan.

Pioneering clinical applications

At Hammersmith Hospital, she performed one of the first micro-fertilisation (ICSI) procedures in England. In addition, she was trained in the embryo biopsy technique for preimplantation genetic testing (PGS, PGD), which was the first time in the world that this procedure was performed in this very hospital. She was one of the first embryologists in England to be licensed by the HFEA (British Independent Fetal Authority) in 1995 for micro-fertilisation (ICSI).

Career

For the last 30 years she has been the director of EmBIO's IVF laboratory, which is one of the largest, scientifically sound, and most comprehensive specialised fertility service centres worldwide performing a great many IVF cycles per year.

She is scientifically responsible for the training of new embryologists and for the smooth operation of the department, for supervising in vitro fertilization cases along with egg micro-fertilisation (ICSI) and preimplantation screening for chromosomal abnormalities (PGS), and single-gene diseases such as beta-thalassemia (PGD).

Scientific Interests

She is a member of leading scientific international and Greek organizations, such as ACE (British Association of Clinical Embryologists) and PEKE (Panhellenic Association of Clinical Embryologists).

Dr. Dina Katrania works tirelessly to improve the care of both women and men, as well as couples who visit EmBIO. Providing high quality medical care, applying effective methods and innovative scientific techniques always tailored to individual needs, as each case is treated individually and uniquely, all of which are non-negotiable values both for her and for the entire EmBIO organization.

She is married to the gynecologist, Director of EmBIO Medical Center, Thanos Paraschos, and has three children.

Christina Deli BSc, MSc

Ms Christine Deli has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Athens and holds a Masters degree in Clinical Embryology achieved in 2004 at Queens Medical Center of Nottingham.

She has worked for six months in a Diagnostic Laboratory performing several microbiological tests including protein electrophoresis, blood hormone measurements, ELISA and blood tests for the diagnosis of allergies and autoimmune disorders.

She joined our team in July 2006 and since then she has been trained in a full range of routine embryological and andrological procedures within the embryology laboratory: egg collection and insemination, egg stripping, ICSI, embryo fertilization and development assessment, embryo freezing and thawing, embryo transfer, semen analysis, sperm freezing, sperm preparation for IUI and IVF, maintenance of database and reporting lab results. She is a member of PEKE since 2006.
