Ovarian Cystectomy

Ovarian cysts can be removed safely and effectively via laparoscopy while leaving the healthy ovarian tissue in place and unharmed. The cysts, regardless of their size, can be removed intact as they are carefully dissected free of the ovary and removed from the body via collapsible laparoscopic bags. Ovarian cysts that are suspicious for cancer can be sent for immediate pathological examination during the surgery and appropriate steps taken based on the diagnosis.

Following laparoscopic ovarian cystectomies, patients are usually discharged from the hospital within 24 hours. They can expect to return to their normal daily activities within 1-2 weeks.
