Our psychologists provide individual or couples mind/body therapy, as well as structured group mind/body programs focused on issues surrounding infertility.
Through these programs, you will learn:
- Numerous relaxation strategies, stress management skills, and get support from others who "get it."
- How to change lifestyle habits which can have a negative impact on fertility.
- The safety and efficacy of different alternative medicine approaches.
- Cognitive restructuring, which involves identifying and reframing recurrent negative thought patterns, so that what starts as "I will never have a baby," may end up as "I am doing everything I can to try to get pregnant."
- Self-nurturing skills ranging from, "101 excuses to avoid baby showers" to how to restructure your daily life to add as much joy as you can.
The EMBIO IVF Program for Infertility is a session group treatment program that meets on weekday evenings. 2. Yoga
Yoga consists of simple physical postures, breath awareness and relaxation techniques that can reduce the daily stress we place on our minds and bodies. The practice of yoga can lead to improved strength, coordination and relaxation.
At the EMBIO IVF, we teach yoga that focuses on the breath and restorative postures, which can help participants release deep layers of tension. We make special modifications for those in physical pain and for those undergoing fertility treatment. This type of yoga works subtly, yet profoundly from the inside of the body out. The series of yoga classes we teach are gentle and thus suitable for all levels.
3. Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a healing method that was developed in China at least 2,000 years ago. At the EMBIO IVF MEDICAL CENTER,our approach to acupuncture incorporates traditions from China, Korea, and Japan. We use traditional thin, metallic needles and manipulate them by hand to balance energies in the body. People experience acupuncture differently, but most feel no or minimal pain. Some people are energized by treatment, while others feel deep relaxation.
The EMBIO IVF MEDICAL CENTER offers acupuncture sessions for all conditions five days a week, as well as pre and post embryo transfer sessions seven days a week. Research suggests that acupuncture treatments before and after embryo transfer in infertility patients may help improve pregnancy rates.
4. Nutrition Counseling
Healthful eating is integral to overall health and wellness, including setting the stage for a healthy pregnancy. Whether your goal is to manage your weight, control a health problem, or simply learn how to fit healthy eating and activity into your lifestyle, our nutritionist at the EMBIO IVF MEDICAL CENTER will help you develop a personalized plan utilizing a non-dieting, behavior-based approach.
In addition to pregnancy support, nutrition counseling is available for a variety of concerns, including weight control and women's health issues, as well as for management (or prevention) of health problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes/prediabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, cancer, eating disorders, and polycystic ovary syndrome.
5. Massage
Massage helps reduce anxiety, pain, discomfort and other stress-related conditions such as headaches and insomnia. It helps to increase blood circulation and reduce the heart rate helping people feel more relaxed and alert.
