Thrombophilia
Molecular analysis
One in seven Greeks has Thrombophilia (a genetic mutation of the V Leiden factor gene, homologous mutation of the MTHFR gene). Thrombophilia multiplies (10 to 100 times) the risk of thrombosis, stroke, heart episode and complications during pregnancy (placenta abruption, miscarriages, endometrial death, early delivery) depending on the type of Thrombophilia and other external factors (weight, pregnancy hormones, and smoking).
In cases of Thrombophilia or history of the above mentioned disorders, antithrombotic treatment is necessary.
