Egg Donation has worked for me at Embio, so go ahead!

In England they won’t help you with a fertility treatment if you are over 40.

So at 50, and after a year with no menstruation, a friend found Embio on the internet. She was also interested for egg donation in Greece. She said, “You try first. I’ll try after you.”

So I was ‘sent’ to Embio, Athens to see how it goes.

And… it’s triplets!

Fortune favours the brave!

My first children, from a previous marriage, were conceived naturally. My eldest daughter was very supportive regarding my donor egg treatment. Now she’s quite excited with the triplets.

Our donor egg babies will look like me

We know of the donor’s height, the colour of her eyes, her occupation, colour of her hair, her interests, and her age. She’s 28.

Dr Paraschos picked the best match: Fair complexion, blond hair, brown eyes.

The IVF experience

Everything was very easy. Our IVF coordinator, gave us the prescription for the medication and an online chemistry in the UK.

From the medication I’ve had some bloated feeling, but only when the doses went higher. This lasted 4-5 days. It’s nothing bad. I was drinking more water, it helps.

We also went to the Acropolis, and the beach.

So now, it’s my friend’s turn.

IVF at 50 - The service and care has left me lost for words and I congratulate them sincerely

I tried in Australia for three and a half years. I had two failures/transfers.

Whilst I was researching to find another IVF clinic, I realised that Greece is among the world leaders in IVF. They are world leaders and they should be definitely congratulated. They are at the highest level. I can compare Australia and Greece, having been through both experiences. And you can say that Greece are world leaders in IVF.

As I researched I was very impressed with the esteemed Dr Paraschos who has collaborated and worked with Hammersmith University, and his decision to come to Athens and direct EMBIO fertility centre. What was I was impressed with was the professionalism and prompt replies from EMBIO that cemented my decision to come to Greece as soon as possible. Not only did the midwife that I corresponded with and Dr Paraschos showed exceptional professionalism, but they also had a unique empathy with the situation I was in, me and all the women in the world. This is very rare to find in the medical field, to be professional, but feel empathy and have real understanding of what a patient wants and is really going through. And they gave me more than 100% support during the whole process.

Dr Paraschos and IVF Coordinator corresponded asap. Not only did they impress me with their system medically, but they also went out of their way to ensure that my arrival in Greece was going to be an easy process as well, and offered to even help with arriving, accommodation and everything else that you need.

Having arrived at the EMBIO Medical Centre I was equally impressed and reassured with the outstanding advanced medical facilities and technology. The service and care has left me lost for words and I congratulate them sincerely.

I have no hesitation in recommending to anyone anywhere in the world to come to EMBIO and see the great work at first hand and I wish sincerely all the best, because I understand there are many people like me out there. Don’t be scared, and if you have the capabilities, this is definitely worth a try for something sacred that you are all looking for.

I stayed for 11 days in Athens. It s important to stay for at least a week for your body to relax, then go through your transfer, then let your body relax again and get on your flight. It’s a very long flight from Australia (16 hours). If you’re coming from a very distant destination, it’s important to take at least a week for your body to relax and unwind. And you can also experience the unique beauty of Greece.

Positive on our 1st cycle with an anonymous egg donor

We’ve been for the scan today and its triplets!

How it all started…
I’m 47, I wanted a baby and my eggs weren’t good enough, so I needed an egg donor.
In Australia egg donation is not anonymous. The donor is part of the baby’s life and the name goes on the birth certificate and everywhere. We wanted it to be anonymous.

Anonymous Donor Egg IVF at EmBIO

The IVF coordinator at EMBIO was great. Answered all questions, clarifications, she was really good.
It’s a very good clinic, everything, staff, facilities, procedures.

The embryo transfer wasn’t painful, it was uncomfortable, ’cause you have a full bladder and they’re putting things inside.
Four embryos were transferred.

I started taking the drugs in Australia. This was our 1st  cycle. We had to go through the Australian IVF system, and we got referred so we got the prescription from them. They took over monitoring when I came back.

For the whole procedure we needed to stay 5 days in Athens, but we chose to stay some more days for the blood test. It’s a long trip to have for just a few days. We went to the Acropolis, Monastiraki…

Dr Paraschos was like being part of the family, was very nice. They make you feel comfortable while you’re there.

The triplets must have felt it, too.

Twins after IVF at EMBIO, Greece

Good news I am having twins, both heart beats are normal!

All the experience was excellent. Correspondence was brilliant. Dr Paraschos was very good, friendly, putting people at ease, because it is a very anxious procedure to go through. Even during the procedure all the staff was brilliant. Very good service.

Now I feel excited and looking forward to the twins. I will recommend Embio to anybondy who can go to Greece.

Hysteroscopy for a Uterine Polyp

I started spotting late October. After one month, I told my gynecologist and he tested me twice with an ultrasound (after he made sure this wasn't a hormone problem).

The ultrasound showed nothing, but the spotting wouldn't stop. Some days there was none at all, other days some yellow brown discharge. He told me that if it didn't stop completely, he'd test me with hysteroscopy. He said I wouldn't be given general anesthesia, just a light sleep.

I said, what the heck? First of all, because spotting was getting on my nerves, and then I needed to know if everything was alright, and yes... work out without seeing those annoying period spots.

Next thing I remember is waking up feeling starving. No pain whatsoever. The "perp" was a small uterine polyp. Right across me there was a lady who had just had an embryo transfer, and said it was the first time she felt no pain either at EMBIO with Dr Paraschos, whereas the other 2 transfers she had had before at another fertility clinic had caused intense pain. As for me, I was just told not to drive home, but since I felt OK, I did anyway.

Next day I was back to work and nobody knew a thing. Dr Paraschos had told me I would have some blood that would last a few days. Actually, I kept bleeding less and less for 9 days. And now all I have to say is thank God I'm completely spotless no matter how hard I work out.

My advice is if you have spotting in between periods, don't be scared. Just talk to your gyno and find out what causes it.

I'll keep my baby!

In Canada if you are pregnant over 35 you have to do a lot of tests to convince your doctor to keep the baby. I had to abort my baby at 6 months of pregnancy because she had a heart problem and the doctors insisted that I have an abortion. Because in Canada they make it very difficult for you to operate on a baby.

But a friend of mine kept her twins that the doctors had told her to abort, and now the twins are in the hospital but they are still alive. They call you every day to convince you to have an abortion. The pressure is too much. First they convince you to take the amnio and then they tell  you your baby will have Down Syndrome and things like that.

If I'm pregnant now I will never listen to them and take an amnio test. I have a 40 year old friend. The doctors did everything to convince her to have an abortion. She refused and now she has her baby totally healthy. She told me if she had heard their advice she would have lost her baby.

I will never never ever take the amnio if I get pregnant now. If it is a sick baby, I will keep it.  Any baby will be my baby!

Tandem IVF with Free Scans

We came to Embio for Tandem IVF. I’m a doctor in Emergency Medicine.

After I consulted Dr Paraschos online he introduced the IVF coordinator and then we kept in touch with both. The IVF coordinator was very helpful. She arranged for the prescriptions and we got all medications in the UK. I started taking them and in the middle of the cycle we came to Athens, and then they started doing the scans. The first scan we did in the UK and continued the scans at Embio for free. Embio does all the scans for free!

Then I had my egg collection including my eggs and the donor’s. Today I had the embryo transfer. It was very nice. I feel very relaxed. Every day we were seeing Doctor Paraschos and IVF coordinator, very nice.

We asked the IVF coordinator to give us some clues for accommodation and she helped us to find an apartment not far from the clinic. We are planning to stay for some days more to have some rest. We’ve been to the Acropolis Museum, very nice place, a lot of things to see.
